Despite the progressive improvement of the sector, those real estates managed by Spanish banks still having serious problems to recover and reach a positive trend. The reasons seem to be the stoppable entry of properties in their stocks, as well as a high rate of unprofitable sales. In fact, according ElEconomista.es, the main banks have increased their properties’ portfolio by 8% during the last year.
The main banks (Popular, Bankia, Sabadell, CaixaBank, Santander and BBVA) will have to wait till 2017 to see an improvement in their balances, as increase in prices is expected for next year.
The bank with worst results were CaixaBank, as its real estate BuildingCenter got negative revenues, more than € 1,400 million (11,4% year-on-year). Only BBVA and Liberbank were able to reduce their loses during the last year, thanks to key sales of toxic assets.
