Price of housing in Spain falls by 1% in October, according the General Council of Notaries

The purchase and sale of homes registered an increase of 15.6% year-on-year last October thanks to the 43,504 transactions carried out, according to the notaries. Meanwhile, the price of houses was reduced by 1% compared to the same period last year. In addition, mortgages grew by 10%, with 17,706 new loans, whose amount was reduced by 2.4%.
Another interesting data announced by the General Council of Notaries in Spain is that mortgage loans increased 10% year-on-year in October, reaching 17,706 new mortgages. However, the average amount of the new loans fell by 2.4%, being 127,850 euros the average figure.
The sale of new flats was reduced 7.7% year-on-year and the average price of the square meter reached 1,328 euros per squared meter, a fall of 1% year-on-year. This fact is probably a consequence of the reduction in the price of single-family homes (-1.4%) and a small reduction in apartments price (-0.5%).
