New construction permits in Spain rose until May

Construction of properties in SpainAccording data provided recently by the Spanish Development Ministry, permits to build new housing continue to rise strongly in Spain. In fact, till May, a total amount of 32,552 new work permits have been granted along the Mediterranean country, a figure that represents a yearly increase of 13.27%. In addition, the figure is better than the achieved numbers during the years 2013 and 2014. In 2013, the worst year for the granting of new building permits, only 34,288 units were recorded.

If the current trend of approved visas is maintained, it is expected that 2017 will surpass the figure of last year, when a few more than 64,000 licenses were given by local authorities.

Despite the positive data, the truth is that the level of the level of the permission given for new construction is far away from the reached ones during the best years of the sector, around ten years ago. As an example, we must keep in mind that in September 2006 where approved approximately 127,000 construction licenses.
