First Passivehaus property made of clay in Spain

The organization PEP (Plataforma de Edificación Passivhaus) has informed recently that the company EcoCreamos has completed its project “Tierra”, recognized with the first Premium Passivhaus Certification of Spain. This project represents also the first construction on earth made by clay.

Project Tierra has been carried out following criteria of bio-construction and sustainability. The home is located in Balearian Islands, and has been constructed with BTC (compacted-land blocks), by using land from the same plot where the home is located.

Another feature of the project is the energetically self-sufficient supply with solar energy, complemented with home automation technology for the optimization of energy demand, as well as control of the different climatic processes by software. In addition, the home includes a Zendher air recovery system combined with a Canadian water well.

The implementation of a smart ecological system of water treatment for the swimming pool and a system to re-use rainwater complete the passive features of the project, which probably will become a benchmark for many other passive projects in Spain and worldwide.
