More than 400.000 residential properties has been sold in Spain during 2016
403,866 homes were sold in Spain last year, according the National Statistic Institute (INE). The accumulated figure of the last fiscal year shows a year-on-year growth of 13.6%, becoming the highest since 2010 (when it was reached a total volume of 440,000 sales).
The amount of transactions has increased by 29.2% since 2013, but the current figure still far away from the record registered in 2017 (almost 800.000 home sales).
Throughout 2016 the resale homes have been the most demanded in Spain. In fact, most of the operations belong to this category of property (more than 320.000 sales). New-built homes, on the other hand, have represented an little proportion among the total volume, with just 75,618 sales.
By areas, Andalusia, Catalonia and Madrid have been the regions where more homes have been sold during 2016, with an amount of 78.708, 66.447 and 58.231 sales respectively. In contrast, less than 10.000 homes were sold in Asturias, Cantabria, Extremadura, Navarre and La Rioja.
